Glimmer of Hope
Ice shatters;
fire ignites
burning shards of fire and ice unify;
and amongst the chaos,
shines a glimmer of hope.
Glimmer of Hope was inspired by images of shattering icebergs. I wanted to capture the burning desire to act, yet at the same time being utterly hopeless as nature reacts against our actions and climate change.

Love Finds a Way
The grey dissolves
hope is born
rose petals open
and love finds a way.
Love Finds a Way uses the opening of a rose amongst the thorns to symbolize the healing of a broken heart, the hope to find love and the delicate balance of a relationship with its multitude of layers and nuances all intertwined in a complicated web of desire.

Heart's Desire
You're the colors in the sunset
You're the rustling of the leaves
You're the twinkling in the nighttime stars
You're the very air I breathe
~Qiuling Zakaroff
The essence of a heart's desire is love. Release the love inside to awaken the soul and unleash the positive energy stored deep within.
Art is my heart's desire! It allows the colour inside me to burst out with an explosive energy. I love to paint large-scale in vivid array of intense bright colors. My art is meant to inspire. Every painting, with its bold colors and luminous glow is created to bring out a positive emotion, a flow of creativity and a sense of awakening and empowerment. What is your heart's desire?

Love Unravelled
Lovers quarrel
reaching for meaning.
A delicate balance shifts;
love unravels.
Love Unravelled continues on the love journey series and represents the lovers intertwined in a complicated balance of lust, love, obsession and passion.
The painting expresses the flowing connection between lovers and the passion of the ego which can so easily tip the intricate balance from trust to chaos.

Ocean of Consciousness
You are not a drop in the ocean,
You are the entire ocean in a drop. ~ Rumi
In my travels, I remember reading Buddhist teachings that spoke about each of us being a wave in the ocean of consciousness.
In modern society there is so much focus on the self: self-improvement, self-esteem, self-confidence, self-doubt. The overindulgence of our ego distorts our perception of independence hence creating a false sense of self.
In truth, while we manifest our independence, we are still part of the ocean of humanity and if we don't help each other then we will all sink. Compassion and unity will connect us to build a better world.

Life's a Beach
Maharishi Yogi spoke about the ocean as an analogy for the mind. He compared the waves to our thoughts and the depths of the ocean to the silent transcendental level of our mind. The process of transcending is like a wave settling into the vastness of the sea.
The most settled state of our mind - pure consciousness - is not a flat, empty silence but a dynamic field flowing within itself.
The next time you escape to the beach and dive into the ocean, reflect upon your own consciousness. Coming out refreshed and rejuvenated from a day at the beach is a small step towards attainment of wholeness in Being.

The Soul Awakened
Loving life and being blissfully disconnected in a self-indulgent state of happiness has been a personal trait.
Lately, a burning desire to create, express and reconnect has emerged inside me with an unexpected force. Trusting intuition, I did create and I did express, feeling my energy expanding and my soul awakening.
This positive energy makes me reconnect and to feel alive; finding a centered place, inner peace and a quiet mind.
Focusing on the now,
time expands yet slows down;
and I see the world alive
in slightly brighter colours.

The Glory of the Garden
The silence of the night surrenders.
A moment's iridescence;
a glimmer of light.
For the glory of the garden,
dawn bursts into a splendor.
This painting was inspired by the grace and charm of the English cottage garden in spring bloom.
Opposing grandeur and formal structure, the cottage garden is defined by a haphazard design and a chaotic order.

Creative Energy
A feeling of anticipation,
array of colors splash,
the fiery soul awakens,
creative energy expands.
The painting aims to capture the explosive transition between the state of peaceful emptiness and that 'aha' moment, the epiphany, the moment of inspiration when something clicks and the positive energy begins to flow and expand.

Into the Deep (diptych)
There flow a tide of fears.
You never see it coming.
Unintentionally it appears,
you fall into the deep.
Something unexpected can happen at any moment which will throw us off balance into the deep. These set of paintings represent the turbulent thoughts, the fight, the tipping point of the 'deep' and getting re-balanced again.

The Earth is Me
I am the Earth
And the Earth is me.
Each blade of grass,
Each honey tree,
Each bit of mud,
And stick and stone
Is blood and muscle,
Skin and bone.
Jane Yolen's 'Earth Day' poem from The Three Bears Holiday Rhyme Book was the inspiration behind this painting. I tried to captivate the simple and elegant structure as well as the mood of the poem.
'As long as life, as dear, as free, I am the Earth and the Earth is me.'
